Le Velour Backstage: Dominance Starts with Communication

Beautiful things happen at Le Velour. And to keep them beautiful—even when things get… let's say communication gets a little juicy—we regularly hold a Le Velour Office Day: an internal training day where we fine-tune details you might not see… but you'll always feel.

This time, we zoomed in on soft skills, safety, and hygiene. Yes—our salon has "operational procedures." :D And no, it's not boring. It's that invisible kind of luxury you know so well ;).

So what did we work on? 

1. Tricky communication moments (when nerves do the talking)

Sometimes you arrive with a clear idea of what you want… and then, suddenly, words disappear. Other times you talk a little too much—just to cover the nerves. We practiced how to:

  • recognize when it's time to slow down and give space,

  • ask questions that feel good and help us get the information we need,

  • hold the atmosphere without pushing for performance.

Because the biggest power move is knowing how to work with a quiet "I don't know."


2. Psychological dominance: the kind of atmosphere that knocks you off your feet

We talked about how to build tension and anticipation without unnecessary harshness—and how to hold the scene so you feel you're in very good hands.

3. Safety in a session: rules that make the experience better

Safety isn't a "brake." It's the foundation that lets you relax and let go. We fine-tuned:

  • boundaries and agreements beforehand,

  • signals and safe words (including moments when we need to be extra observant),

  • ongoing consent—and how to read nonverbal communication.

Even something as simple as "I'm fine" can come in different tones. Knowing the difference matters.

4. Hygiene and clean-up: glamour is also what you don't see

Because a luxurious experience isn't just about atmosphere—it's also about what happens behind the scenes: cleanliness, scent, preparation, and post-session routines. We reviewed our system and polished it so it stays:

  • fast, thorough, and repeatable,

  • gentle on materials,

  • and most importantly: so every client walks into a space where they can feel good.


5. Sharing situations

Discretion is absolute, of course. But we do share typical situations, communication moments, and what worked well—so others can learn from it too.


That's how we keep getting better :). And you get an even better experience.
